e-Business Research Center

The transformation from Post-Industrial to Information Society has manifested itself as a change of the key means of production. They no longer primarily include (physical) work, capital and materials, but relevant information and knowledge in the right place at the right time. To succeed in a competitive environment where businesses are connected by various data networks, companies need team-players that know the rules of the game and possess the management skills required in the new order. In this environment, universities must excel in the production, education, and training of exactly such players for the society at large.

The Tampere University of Technology and the University of Tampere already engage in research and training related to the e-business offering degrees majoring in, for example, Information and Knowledge Management. Nevertheless, the key to generating research of global value is co-operation and networking between different parties: Academic and industrial, domestic and international. To orchestrate for such border-crossing team-driven research efforts, the TUT and the UTA have joined forces and launched eBRC (e-Business Research Center) as their joint project under the eTampere umbrella.
