eTampere was an extensive cooperation programme. It set out to promote cooperation between business life, the research world, education and the public sector so that the knowledge society would become a natural part of the everyday lives of all citizens. Activity was local, regional, national and international. The development perspectives were technology, economy, society and culture.
Tampere has always been courageous in nature, and eTampere’s objectives were characteristically ambitious. The programme had a budget of 132 million euros.
eTampere was implemented through six independent sub-programmes which collaborated between themselves and with numerous other partners.
The entire programme was coordinated by the eTampere Office. A Steering Group acted as the strategic visionary and developed and monitored activities. Guidelines for practical implementation were drawn up by a working committee formed by the sub-programmes’ directors.
